What started it all....

I want to be a writer. I read almost everything and then enjoy writing about what I have read. Sometimes I write about family events, thoughts that I think, or book ideas that I would like to finish. My Mom and Pop told me when I get older, I can try an internship to learn more about writing. One day, maybe I will even make my own book.

My Pop was so excited when I told him I wanted to write, that he suggested I start a blog. Here I can write about anything and other people can see my thoughts. Maybe this will help me become a better writer.

Twenty-Thousand Leagues Under the Sea

I have seen the movie based on this book, and thought the book must not be that interesting. I regret thinking that now, for this book was very good. I enjoyed it a lot and even though the movie was very different from the book, the book was not at all boring. It had adventures galore, different, but adventures nonetheless. I hope to find many books written by this talented author.

Island of the Blue Dolphins

Island of the Blue Dolphins is an enchanting story. I liked reading this book. When I got this book, I was eager to see what it held, and pounced upon it as soon as we got home from the library. The story is written very well. I liked to read about the island. I also enjoyed reading about the main character (most everyone does!).  She is very talented, and can do many things. I hope to read more exciting books like this one. Maybe on our library days....

Kingdom Keepers

The Kingdom Keepers is a series of books. I have only read three of the books, because the others have not been written yet. They were mysterious, funny, interesting, and fun to read. Although the kids in the story are teenagers, they didn't seem too much older than me (maybe that's because I'm nine and they are twelve in the first book). But they are older in the other books. Thirteen, fourteen; one of them fifteen. The story kind of got me ready for some of the stuff in regular life I might experience when I get older. The books were really good.

The Black Pearl

This story is a very good book, though it isn't what I thought it would be. I liked this book a lot. It is very
interesting. The boy in the story has a father who works in a pearl business. One day, when the boy finally gets to go out pearl-diving and exciting things happen, the boy and his father's crew (the father swam home) set off on a thrilling adventure. I'd like to make an interesting story like this author did.

Back in Step

It is time to get back into the swing of things. Next Monday we get back to regular school schedules. Summer is fun, but it can also take up time that I would normally spend writing. While I did do a lot of reading (more than 80 books, and not picture books either!); I unfortunately didn't do much reporting on what was read. So, I will more than likely spend the next week or two catching everyone up on the great reads from this summer. Keep an eye out!
